The Region of Umbria Law n. 13, 04/04/1990 regulates an unusual form of hospitality tourism: that of offering accommodation in historic buildings. This tourist facilily is aimed at those who would like to holiday in a castle, villa or monastery. The buildings that come under the heading "Historic Residences" are complexes of great historic and architectural merit with furnishings of he period or of particular artistic interest. These buildings have all been renovated in accordance wìth the original style and are situated in environmental setting of unquestionable natural and scenic value. Because of the variations in the types of residences, from villas to castles, from palaces to ancient monasteries, the accommodation, equipment and services offered could also be very diversified.
